Keeping Our Venue Knowledge Fresh: Spring 2025 Update

Staying up to date with the latest venue offerings is a vital part of what we do—and we take it seriously. Our team actively seeks out the newest, most versatile, and most unique spaces to ensure we’re always offering you the best options for your events. We do this through:

  • Attending exhibitions and networking events to connect with multiple venues under one roof
  • Holding regular catch-ups with venue and group contacts to stay in the loop on new developments
  • Visiting venues in person—sometimes during the evening or weekends, and occasionally turning them into our “office for the day”

While we frequently visit local venues, this year we’ve ventured further afield to discover exciting and unique locations. Here are a few highlights from our recent visits:

Cambridge Standouts

Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge

An art gallery with a difference. Once home to art collectors Jim and Helen Ede, this space blends modern galleries with the original domestic setting. It can also incorporate adjacent St Peter’s Church for atmospheric receptions.

Histon Manor

A rare opportunity for exclusive corporate use, this private estate near Cambridge offers a peaceful and prestigious setting for select events.

Christ’s College, Cambridge

A historic college with select availability, featuring the beautiful traditional hall (130 for dinner) and 11 hireable rooms, including the quirky Plumb Auditorium for 55 classroom-style.

Spotlight on Birmingham

Park Regis

Centrally located, this sleek hotel boasts multiple meeting spaces for up to 400 delegates.

Millennium Point

A multi-functional venue supporting STEM projects, it includes spaces like:

  • Auditorium: Seats 354
  • The Station: Holds up to 150 with multiple rooms
  • The Express: Seats 100 with breakout flexibility
  • Smaller rooms: Ideal for 30–100 delegates

Eastside Rooms & Aloft Marriott

With 23 meeting rooms and Birmingham’s largest pillar-free event space (Affinity Suite, up to 1,200), this is a top pick for sustainable, large-scale conferences. The Aloft Marriott next door provides accommodation, making this space ideal for residential meetings.

ThinkTank

Next to Millennium Point, this modern science museum doubles as an evening event space. Great for dinners and a unique guest experience.

Radisson Blu Birmingham

A contemporary hotel with 211 bedrooms and 10 bright, modern meeting rooms (largest seats 100 theatre-style).

The REP Theatre & Library of Birmingham

A dynamic duo:

  • REP Theatre: Spaces from tiered seating for 820 to flexible studio and meeting rooms
  • Library: Europe’s largest public library offers iconic spaces like the Book Rotunda (up to 300) and Feature Space (dinners up to 550)

Malmaison Birmingham

Located in the Mailbox complex, this chic hotel offers 193 rooms, 6 modular meeting rooms, and private meeting pods for informal gatherings.

Hotel du Vin Birmingham

Housed in a former Victorian hospital, it offers 66 characterful rooms and a stunning courtyard with retractable roof—perfect for receptions up to 150.

Surry and Sussex Highlights

The Grand Brighton

Recently refurbished with £16 million investment, this seafront icon has 205 rooms and 13 event spaces, including the Empress Suite (900 theatre-style) and the regal Regent Room for 80.

DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton

Formerly the Metropole, this venue has 24 flexible meeting rooms and over 110,000 sq. ft. of space. The Oxford Suite holds up to 650 cabaret-style, and the Regency Suite can be divided into four rooms.

De Vere Horsley Park

Set on a historic estate in Surrey, this venue combines the elegance of a manor house with a modern training centre. Once home to computing pioneer Ada Lovelace and aviator Thomas Sopwith, it features beautiful grounds, a lake, and even a Bear Grylls Survival Pit!

London Options

Sofitel London St James

This luxurious 5-star hotel blends French flair with British heritage. Housed in a former bank, it offers:

  • 183 rooms (including 21 suites)
  • 12 meeting rooms, with the Westminster Suite seating 200 theatre-style
  • Michelin-starred dining at Wild Honey and a tranquil spa with gym and hot tub

Riverbank Park Plaza, London

Opposite the Tate Britain, this stylish hotel offers 600+ rooms and meeting space for up to 650 theatre-style, ideal for exhibitions and breakouts.
