At HotelRes, we’re proud to be working closely with Cambridge City Football Club on a series of exciting community events. Earlier this summer, we supported the very first CityFest at the new Sawston Stadium – five days packed with activities, fun, and opportunities for everyone to get involved
We’re delighted to share that CityFest will now become an annual event, with planning already underway for 2026.
Business Community
One of the highlights of this year’s festival was the Business on the Ball day – designed especially for the local business community. The day combined networking, inspiring talks, and a lively five-a-side football tournament.
For 2026, we’d like to evolve the format. Our idea is to make Business on the Ball feel more like a Summer Team Party – giving local companies, particularly smaller teams, the chance to enjoy an afternoon together.
Of course, the corporate five-a-side tournament will still be taking centre stage, but we want to make sure there’s plenty to enjoy for non-football players too. Here’s what we’re thinking so far:
- 🎨 Sip & Paint session
- 🏋️ Outdoor workout led by the Simply Human Boot Camp team
- 🏅 School Sports Day-style games for teams
- 🌱 Community Garden activities (a much-loved part of CityFest)
The afternoon would start with networking at 2pm, followed by activities and football, leading seamlessly into the Beer Festival at 4:30pm. With food vans, a funfair, live music, and bands from 7:30pm, friends and family will be able to join the celebrations into the evening.
We’d love to hear your thoughts:
- Would these activities encourage more of your team to join?
- Do you think Friday afternoon works well, even with many people working from home?
- Are there other activities you’d like to see included?
Your feedback will help us shape Business on the Ball 2026 into something even more exciting, inclusive, and memorable.
