Countrywide Hotels are a new hotel group that have several hotels and venues in the UK. HotelRes recently visited two of the properties from their portfolio – Hunton Park and Denham Grove. Hunton Park is a manor house close to the Harry Potter Studios and Watford. Denham Grove is a more modern hotel close to Uxbridge, Middlesex.
Both properties were taken over from DeVere venues and have been going through refurbishment, transforming them from “conference centres” to hotels. As a result, they offer a varied selection of accommodation, event rooms and ample outdoor space, great for team building.
The trip started at Hunton Park with welcome drinks in the grounds, before taking part in a gin tasting session. Making full use of the grounds, the group enjoyed a barbeque style buffet dinner, with after dinner drinks in the bar area. The hotel has large event spaces which are a mix of modern and traditional style rooms. They can cater for anything from weddings, to conferences and exhibitions. The next morning saw us take part in a soap box derby. Each group had to design and make their own soap box kart and then race each other on an inflatable track.
In the afternoon we visited Denham Grove where we had a tour of the hotel’s extensive meetings and events spaces, leisure facilities and the varied bedroom types. Denham Grove is going through major refurbishment and the plans all look very exciting. The team building at this hotel was a Kahoot quiz, where attendees were tested on all that they had learnt over the weekend! This hotel also has extensive grounds, ideal for garden games or any other outdoor activity. The restaurant is ideal for semi-private dining; it can be partitioned by sliding doors. After dinner drinks can be served in the hotels lounge bar area which has access to the outdoor seating areas.
Both hotels offer a great base for residential and corporate events. The flexible event spaces mean they can cater for all types of meetings.
